Romanian VZ-24 Mauser with the crest of King Carol follow up and survey. Log in or sign up to leave a comment Log In Sign Up. Romania, I know had their crest on some, while China, had some with a P prefix on the serial number and were dated 1937 and again Romanian arms were dated 1938-39-40. These dated rifles were also issued to the Czech Army as some bare the Army acceptance mark which is an E (small Czech lion) and date.

I recently purchased VZ24 Mauser. It has the crest ground off which it appears to be Yugoslavian. The seller states this was done by the Russians???? I have made a short search and can not seem to find anything to support this statement.
I have another VZ24 with the Lions crest intact. The price for this new addition to my collection I could not resist. $200!!!!
Do any of you folks know if the Russians indeed ground off the Yugo crest or did the Serbs do it after the fall of Yugoslavia???
This rifle is indeed a Czech VZ24 not a Yugo 24/47, or M48, M48a etc. All other markings on the rifle indicate it as a VZ24 and made by the Czechs.
